Warranty, 5-year warranty and LIFETIME warranty on knife shafts

IDEAL products are designed to deliver the highest possible performance and reliability. All IDEAL document shredders, cutting machines, air purifiers, and office equipment products are subject to the following statutory warranty:

Legal warranty:

All new products are covered by the statutory warranty. For a period of 24 months from the date of purchase, IDEAL guarantees, under normal use, that the product is free from defects in materials, workmanship, mechanics, and electrical components, and that it complies with the applicable performance specifications. Proof of purchase is required for warranty claims. The decision to repair or replace the product is solely at IDEAL's discretion.

The statutory warranty does not apply to products that have been subjected to one of the following conditions.

  • Damage after purchase due to improper use, other deliberate damage and damage caused by force majeure.
  • Improper transport, shipping or assembly and disassembly in accordance with IDEAL's technical documentation.
  • Removing parts or seals on the device.
  • Damage or defects caused by improper operation, improper service, proven use of incorrect care products from other manufacturers, or repairs. Repairs may only be performed by IDEAL or an authorized service partner.
    Wear parts and consumables are excluded from the warranty.

5-year IDEAL guarantee:

In addition to the statutory warranty, IDEAL offers a 5-year guarantee for selected products.

Benefits of the 5-year warranty

  • IDEAL Krug & Priester Germany grants a five-year warranty for the models designated for this purpose, starting with the purchase of the device.
  • With the guarantee, IDEAL Krug & Priester Germany covers repair costs for a period of five years.
  • Repair of the device and replacement services do not extend the warranty period.
  • 5-year IDEAL warranty is valid for these models:

Requirements

  • The device is located in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.
  • The services provided under the 5-year IDEAL guarantee are provided exclusively within the Federal Republic of Germany.
  • The end customer's invoice from the invoice date of May 1, 2023 serves as proof of the 5-year IDEAL guarantee.

Content and scope of the 5-year IDEAL guarantee

  • Defects in the device will be remedied free of charge within a reasonable period of time either by repair or replacement of the document shredder.
  • The document shredder will be returned to the factory for repair/replacement. The device must be made available for collection, packaged for shipping, at a parcel shop. IDEAL Krug & Priester will cover the shipping costs from the parcel shop, the repair labor, and the cost of replacement parts. All other costs or any resulting damage are not covered by this warranty.
  • Replaced parts or devices become the property of IDEAL Krug & Priester Deutschland.
  • Services under the 5-year IDEAL guarantee may only be carried out by IDEAL Krug & Priester Germany.
  • If the repair is uneconomical or impossible, the customer will receive an identical or comparable replacement device/new device.
  • The delivery of consumables, wear items and accessories is not included in the scope of the warranty.

What is not insured?

  • Incorrect assembly or installation, e.g., failure to comply with applicable safety regulations or written instructions for use, installation, and assembly.
  • Improper use.
  • Transport damage of any kind.
  • Intentional causing of damage.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Failure to follow the maintenance and cleaning instructions in accordance with the instructions for use.
  • The 5-year IDEAL warranty is not offered for the MC and SMC fine-cutting machines.

LIFETIME guarantee on knife shafts

We offer a LIFETIME warranty (30 years) on cutter shafts for many IDEAL document shredders manufactured since 2011. This warranty applies to all cutter shafts when the shredder is used as intended. Excluded from this warranty are all SHREDCAT models, the MC and SMC fine-cut shredders, and the high-capacity document shredders with three-phase power.
