Important information about air purifiers
Bad air pollutes and can make you sick
Regular exposure to poor indoor air quality often has serious and lasting negative effects on health and the body. This is especially true when you consider that every person breathes approximately 14 times per minute and 20,000 times a day. The lungs have to endure a lot and work extremely hard to filter the harmful particles and pollutants from the air. It's obvious that this will lead to serious problems in the long term.
Some well-intentioned tips, such as airing out the room, often only introduce new pollutants, allergens, and particles into the room – depending on the location – and may even worsen the indoor air quality. Did you know that you breathe in and out at least 10,000 liters of air every day? With every breath, pollutants enter the body. But our lungs aren't filters for polluted indoor air. What we can't fight off makes us sluggish, unfocused, or even sick.
It's been proven that dust particles can enter the respiratory tract and lungs via the nose. In the worst case, tiny dirt particles can even reach the blood vessels and brain. They are then transported via the bloodstream to the organs. The consequences are headaches, fatigue, poor concentration, and respiratory diseases. Chronic conditions (bronchitis or COPD) and acute illnesses (pneumonia, lung cancer) are also promoted. Furthermore, the risk of heart attacks and strokes increases. Therefore, use an air purifier to filter dust and other pollutants from the indoor air.
Protect your lungs - filter technology of the IDEAL air purifiers
Air purifiers with innovative filter technologies and activated carbon filters can reliably remove all of these substances from the air. Because our lungs aren't a filter for polluted indoor air. With an air purifier from IDEAL, polluted indoor air is freed of the smallest particles such as pathogens, allergens, chemical compounds, and odors. Highly effective filter technology cleans the room air almost 100%. The air purifier captures even more distant particles and optimally distributes the fresh, purified air throughout the room. With these devices, the filter and purification system is particularly important.
IDEAL Classic air purifier for entry into air purification
The two air purifier models, the IDEAL AP25 and IDEAL AP35, ensure clean and healthy indoor air. They are available in two performance sizes for rooms of 16–35 m² and 25–45 m², respectively, and are therefore flexible for use in all spaces. The air purifiers' multi-layer filter reliably removes pollutants and contaminants such as dust, fine dust (PM10, PM2.5 and smaller), pollen and other airborne allergens, as well as pathogens such as bacteria and mold spores, cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes, chemical vapors (formaldehyde, toluene, VOCs, etc.), and odors from the indoor air. All this while operating with extreme energy efficiency and whisper-quietly. The current air quality is automatically monitored and continuously displayed via lighting elements.

IDEAL AP PRO devices with top values are simply whisper quiet
In addition to room size, filtration performance, and air flow, the decisive factors for or against the purchase of an air purifier are the noise level at which the air purifier operates. The IDEAL AP PRO units impress with their extremely quiet operation. Depending on the location, the noise level of an air purifier is perceived completely differently.
This is what makes our air purifiers so quiet
Thanks to the perfect interaction of many components, the IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers are among the most powerful and quietest air purification devices on the market. The flow-optimized airflow and the highly efficient fan achieve high airflow even at the lowest filter setting. The IDEAL AP PRO models operate ultra-quietly in the background in night mode.

Frequently asked questions about air purifiers
What is the difference between an air purifier and an air washer?
You can't see or smell it, but indoor air is full of dangerous and fine particles and pollutants. This kind of poor breathing air not only affects our health and our performance, but also our well-being. And yet healthy air is one of the most important things in life. Our IDEAL air purifiers rid the indoor air of all pollutants. You can feel the difference: thanks to the air purifiers, you breathe clean air and feel good. In the office, at home, and in all your favorite places. IDEAL air purifiers are essentially an air cure for your rooms. With a broad product portfolio and the use of the highest quality materials and components, IDEAL sets standards in air purification. IDEAL air purifiers function based on nature's model, but are significantly more effective. The highly effective, multi-layer filters permanently remove pollutants from the indoor air.
This 2-in-1 device combines air purification and humidification in one, guaranteeing a healthy indoor climate year-round. A highly effective, multi-stage purification system reliably filters pollutants and contaminants from the air: dust, fine dust (PM10, PM2.5 and smaller), pollen and other airborne allergens, as well as pathogens such as bacteria and mold spores, cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes, and odors. Additionally, the device also ensures optimal humidity (through a hygienic cold evaporation system) upon request. Bacteria and viruses can persist in dry indoor air for longer. This often results in an increased risk of colds, infections, and allergic respiratory diseases. Targeted humidification through the use of an IDEAL humidifier counteracts this.
How exactly does an air purifier work?
The air purifier draws the room air into the device with the help of fans. The room air is cleaned by several filters inside the device and returned to the room as clean air. Each filter serves a specific purpose by cleaning the air of specific pollutants. These specially developed, multi-stage filters remove pollutants from the room air – including respirable and ultrafine particles (nanoparticles) that can cause illness.
Pre-filter grid
The pre-filter grid surrounds the 360° multi-layer filter and removes coarse dirt such as hair, lint and dust.
Pre-filter layer
The pre-filter removes coarse particles and extends the life of the HEPA filter.
HEPA microfiber layer
The microfiber layer filters even respirable and ultrafine particles (PM2.5, PM0.3).
Activated carbon layer
The activated carbon neutralizes even chemical substances, NO2, ozone and strong odors.
Cover layer
The covering fleece protects the high proportion of activated carbon.
Filter with 360° arrangement
The 360° cartridge design ensures effective use of the entire surface and high air throughput.
The five filter layers of our smart filters capture small and large particles, as well as gases and molecules. They also filter the so-called MPPS ("Most Penetrating Particle Size"), the most difficult-to-remove particles with a size between 0.1 and 0.3 micrometers. Thanks to their round design, the filter surface is optimally utilized.
When does an air purifier make sense?
There are many reasons for this. Air purifiers can minimize the following risks and problems, among others:
1. Allergies
Suitable air purifiers filter numerous allergens from the air. And where there are no allergens, allergy symptoms don't occur.
2. Breathing problems
Air purifiers remove dust, gases and chemicals, allowing you to breathe freely.
3. Air pollution
Fine dust, nitrogen oxides and ozone are also reliably captured with the right filter technology.
4. Droplet infection
Air purifiers filter pathogens and thus reduce the risk of transmission through the air or through contact infection.
5. Headaches
Pollutants in the air burden the organism and often cause discomfort and headaches.
6. Mold
Air purifiers remove mold spores, which often pollute the air in buildings unnoticed.
7. Bad smells
Persistent or recurring unpleasant odors are a source of stress for many people. This can be eliminated or at least significantly reduced with air purifiers.
8. Reduced performance
Often, stale air alone is enough to impair performance and well-being. Air purifiers can help here, too.
What effects can poor indoor air quality have?
According to the Federal Statistical Office, every worker in Germany is on sick leave for an average of 15 days per year. The number of allergy sufferers is also steadily increasing: one in five Central Europeans already suffers from allergies and allergic asthma. This is a serious development, and one in which the air plays a significant role. In the search for the cause of symptoms and illnesses, the air is often overlooked, but polluted indoor air is a risk that should not be underestimated. When inhaled, dust particles can enter the respiratory tract and lungs through the nose. In the worst case, they can even reach the blood vessels. They are then transported via the bloodstream to the organs. The consequences are headaches, fatigue, poor concentration, and respiratory diseases. But chronic diseases (bronchitis or COPD) and acute illnesses (pneumonia, lung cancer) are also favored. Furthermore, the risk of heart attacks and strokes increases.
Which pollutants can pollute indoor air?
Whether at home or at work, we spend up to 90% of our day indoors. Whether we work, sleep, shop, or eat, we mostly do this indoors. We rarely think about the air we breathe inside, but it can be much more polluted than the air outside. Possible contaminants in indoor air include:
Bacteria and viruses
They're so small that they can only be seen under a microscope, which is why they're called microorganisms. For us, this means we have no chance of detecting them until we come into contact with them. Bacteria and viruses are found everywhere. And they spread incredibly quickly, especially in (large) crowds.
Pollen and allergens
Allergy sufferers often have a particularly difficult time in their homes, workplaces, and other indoor spaces. Dust allergy sufferers are exposed to irritation year-round, while pollen allergy sufferers experience an aggravation of their symptoms every time they air out during the season. Mites, mold, and chemicals can also trigger or contribute to allergies.
Fine dust
Fine particulate matter is one of the most dangerous pollutants to our health because it can penetrate the sensitive areas of our respiratory system. Long-term exposure to fine particulate matter is harmful to health and shortens lifespans. Fine particulate matter kills approximately 7 million people each year. Studies also suggest that fine particulate matter increases the risk of heart attacks and lung cancer and may even trigger diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Fine particulate matter penetrating from outside is also a dangerous issue indoors.
Odors and chemicals
Fumes, odors, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen dioxide, ozone, and formaldehyde are transported and absorbed through the air. Depending on the substance, excessive amounts of these indoors can cause discomfort, and in some cases, even serious health problems: respiratory tract irritation or nervous system impairment. Some substances are even said to be carcinogenic. Some air purifiers use so-called ionizers, which generate ozone and thus ensure fresh air. Not so with IDEAL air purifiers.
Do air purifiers help with allergies?
Yes, absolutely. Air purifiers reliably remove even the smallest particles, such as allergens and pollen, from polluted indoor air. Thanks to their highly effective, multi-layer filters, they can even remove up to 99.99%. This can significantly alleviate allergy symptoms and health problems. They thus ensure greater well-being and quality of life, as well as increased concentration and performance.
IDEAL air purifiers also take into account the fact that the number of allergy sufferers is constantly increasing. They have been awarded the ECARF quality seal for their high allergy-friendliness and are also certified for medical use, as evidenced by the "tested hygiene" seal of approval.
What are the reasons for buying an air purifier?
There are many different reasons for choosing an air purifier. The presence of certain indoor complaints that can be traced back to polluted air is a prime reason for its use. Problems are often caused by pollen, mold spores, or even bacteria and viruses. However, other environmental influences such as particulate matter, car exhaust, nitrogen dioxide, etc., which are particularly prevalent in cities, also affect our indoor air and ourselves. Furthermore, fumes from floor coverings, furniture, adhesives, etc. (so-called VOCs) negatively impact our indoor air. Even relatively short-term activities such as smoking, cooking, burning candles, or using scented oils in lamps worsen the quality of the air we breathe. Renovation work also releases pollutants and can severely pollute indoor air. And, of course, we ourselves are also largely responsible for the negative impact on our indoor air. We consume oxygen and release carbon dioxide, water vapor, excess heat, and body odors into our environment. All of this speaks in favor of using an air purifier to improve indoor air quality. Further information is also provided in our guide in the form of an air primer in DIN A6 format.
How loud is an air purifier?
Depending on where it's placed, the noise level of an air purifier is perceived very differently. For example, it makes a difference whether a device is used during normal daily routines in an (open-plan) office or in a bedroom at night. The noise level, which may be almost unnoticeable during the day due to the diverse ambient noise, can be perceived as extremely disturbing at night. The noise level is measured in dB(A) and varies depending on the selectable power levels.
Air purifiers are generally optimized for airflow and filtration performance. IDEAL air purifiers focus on another crucial component: noise emissions. The result is an ultra-quiet night mode, but also high performance and a pleasant operating noise level. All IDEAL AP PRO models operate whisper-quietly in the lowest mode (night mode), are virtually inaudible, and impress with their above-average smoothness. For example, the IDEAL AP40 PRO boasts a peak operating noise level of 16.7 dB(A), placing it at the top of the market. Air purifiers from competitors with comparable airflow rates have significantly higher measured values of between 22 dB(A) and 32 dB(A).
In comparison to these appliance running noises, for example, the rustling of leaves in calm wind or quiet breathing produces a value of 10 dB(A), the normal operating noise of a refrigerator is 40 dB(A), conversation between several people is 60 dB(A), a television runs at around 70 dB(A) and a main road about 10 m away produces a disturbing noise level of around 90 dB(A).
What makes the IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers so whisper quiet?
There are several reasons for this: The fans installed in the IDEAL AP PRO units – which consist of the EC motor and the impeller – have a decisive influence on the quiet running of the IDEAL AP PRO units. The impellers, manufactured in one piece from high-tech composite material, are characterized by optimal aerodynamics. Their shape was continuously optimized using complex simulation models combined with measurements on prototypes. The result is optimal, low-loss airflow through the impeller, i.e. the greatest possible air output is achieved with the lowest possible fan speed – and the pressure loss in the air purifier is minimized. The installed GreenTech EC motor also contributes to ultra-quiet running, in addition to its extremely high energy efficiency and compactness. Together with its robust construction and maintenance-free operation, it sets completely new standards.
All AP PRO models are equipped with these fans, specially developed for IDEAL. A key advantage is that the fan is designed as a single unit, ensuring that the individual components are optimally coordinated. The quiet operation is further supported by the fact that all components within the air purifier are arranged for optimal flow. This uniform flow profile results in fewer noise sources and thus improved, quieter acoustics.
In night mode, all illuminated displays are dimmed. Therefore, the IDEAL AP PRO models are also ideal for use in bedrooms or children's rooms.
How long do the filters last and how often do I need to change them?
The average filter lifespan tends to be around 12 months. This is based on average pollutant levels and the operation of the air purifier in automatic mode. The filter lifespan depends on the degree of air pollution and the intensity of use of the device. For example, in a smoking room, the filter needs to be changed more frequently than if the air purifier is used to protect against pollen. And then, of course, the daily usage of the air purifier is crucial. It is therefore recommended that the device has an automatic filter change indicator – as with the IDEAL air purifiers. If the filter is changed too infrequently, it loses its necessary filtering effect. It can even release the filtered substances back into the room air. The same applies to replacing the filter cassette, which can be changed quickly and easily by anyone. The integrated filter change indicator ensures you are always on the safe side and consistently good air quality.
What is the best place to place an air purifier?
The general rule is: as central as possible. The ideal location for an air purifier is therefore (theoretically) in the middle of the room, as this is where air can be drawn in from all sides without hindrance, the air can be released back into the room just as easily, and there is nothing standing in the way of optimal air circulation. In practice, however, it is rarely possible to place an air purifier in the middle of a room without compromising freedom of movement or the appearance. In some situations (e.g. after smoking indoors), it is still a good idea to place the air purifier in the middle of the room for a while, let it run there for a while until the desired effect is achieved, and then return it to its "normal" location.
How much electricity does it cost to operate the air purifier?
For optimal air purification, an air purifier should run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Conventional air purifiers consume up to 550 kWh per year. However, air purifiers from the IDEAL AP PRO series can be safely operated around the clock, for example, in automatic mode. This monitors the air quality and adjusts the device's performance accordingly. Features such as an automatic timer and the ability to select different power levels also offer considerable flexibility. The devices in the AP PRO series are particularly energy-efficient. Motors with innovative EC technology guarantee high performance – and this with very moderate energy consumption.
Sample calculation for electricity consumption per year:
24/7 operation AP40 PRO automatic mode
365 days a year (8,760 hours/year)
95% of the time level 1 (at 5 watts)
5% of the time at higher levels (on average at 10 watts)
Total consumption of 46.1 kWh per year (total costs depend on the current electricity price)
Which air purifier do I need for my room size?
To achieve optimal performance, it is important to consider the specified square footage (m²), as the air purifier is designed for the specific room size. Select a device that can filter a sufficient amount of air for the specific room size, as only then can you achieve optimal cleaning performance. To achieve this, all device components must work together perfectly: filter technology, fan, and sensors. This is crucial for achieving very high air throughput and maximum cleaning performance.
Thanks to highly effective, multi-stage filter technologies, IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers filter up to 99.99% of particles and pollutants from the room air with exceptional effectiveness and efficiency. These include pollen and other allergens, fine dust, pathogens, bacteria, mold spores, pet dander, cigarette smoke, and even chemical vapors and odors. In addition to ideal cleaning performance, IDEAL AP PRO air purifiers ensure excellent air flow of up to 800 m3 per hour. When placed in the right-sized room, the entire room air is circulated or exchanged four to five times per hour (air exchange rate). Thanks to intelligent air sensors, odors and particles are continuously measured, guaranteeing optimal air quality.
