The document shredder is rattling and making cracking noises

In this case, please first clean and oil the cutting unit of your document shredder, as described in the "Care and maintenance" section of the operating manual. Please only use the special oil we have approved for document shredders to do this (order number 9000611). Other oils can damage the document shredder. Should this measure fail to remedy the issue, the drive is possibly damaged. In this case, please get in touch with your local dealer.

The document shredder is indicating "Shred bin full", although the shred bin is not actually full

Unplug the device from the mains. Please first attempt to carefully remove all visible scraps of paper from the lower outfeed area of the cutting unit. Then clean the cutting unit of the document shredder, as described in the "Care and maintenance" section of the operating manual. Should this measure fail to remedy the issue, it is possible that the automatic shred bin fill level detection system is no longer working correctly. In this case, please get in touch with your local dealer.

The document shredder is not shredding the specified number of sheets

Please take into consideration the fact that the number of sheets specified for the device refers to a paper grammage of 70 g/m2 or 80 g/m2 in the longitudinal direction. Other grammages will lead to different sheet capacities. Please also check the fill level of the collection bin. Collection bins that have been overfilled reduce performance. To increase the number of sheets, please clean and oil the cutting unit of the document shredder as described in the "Care and maintenance" section of the operating manual. Please only use the special oil we have approved for document shredders to do this (order number 9000611). Other oils can damage the document shredder. Regular oiling of the cutting unit is important in securing consistent performance, in particular for our cross-cutting shredders. Please do not use multiple socket outlets or extension cables.

What can I not destroy with my document shredder?

Never destroy standard or rechargeable batteries that are contained in devices or documents. Therefore, do not destroy electronic devices such as smartphones or tablet PCs. The same applies to greeting cards, gift cards with music or other electronic effects. These products contain batteries that can cause a fire in the document shredder's waste container after shredding.

Never destroy metal or coins, as these can cause damage to the cutting shafts. Also ensure that paper clips are only destroyed with suitable cutting units.

Never use spray cans or flammable substances. Only use the care products approved by us (e.g. oils, cleaners). Other care products may cause fire or damage.

There is a paper jam in the document shredder. How can I fix it?

Unplug the device from the mains. Please first attempt to remove all visible scraps of paper from the cutting unit from both above and below. Then oil the cutting unit at the accessible open points. Once you have done this, slide a thin piece of cardboard into the open points until the paper jam is released and eliminated. Then clean and oil the cutting unit of your document shredder as described in the "Care and maintenance" section of the operating manual. Please only use the special oil we have approved for document shredders to do this (order number 9000611). Other oils can damage the document shredder. Should this measure fail to resolve the issue, please get in touch with your local dealer.

1
The document shredder is not switching itself off automatically

In this case, the light barrier positioned centrally in the paper infeed area (transmitter + receiver) may be dirty. Always unplug the device from the mains. Clean the two light barrier glass covers in the paper infeed area using a dust-free cloth. When cleaning devices with a deep infeed area, wrap the cloth around a ruler. Should the device still not work correctly after performing these measures, the light barrier may be damaged. In this case, please get in touch with your local dealer.

1
The document shredder will only run backwards and not forwards

Please ensure that the device is switched on and that you always insert the sheets to be destroyed via the centre of the document shredder. Should the device still not work correctly, despite the fact that the sheets are being fed centrally, the issue could be associated with an electrical component. In this case, please get in touch with your local dealer.

1
The document shredder will not start up

Please first check whether the mains plug has been inserted correctly and that the door of the document shredder cabinet has been closed properly. Also check whether the top part of the document shredder is seated correctly on the lower cabinet or bin. If necessary, correct the position of the document shredder on the cabinet or bin in such a way that it is seated "correctly". When using small document shredders intensively, the safety-based overheating protection of the motor may be triggered. In this case, simply allow the device to cool down for a period. It should then work perfectly again once it has cooled down. A dry and soiled cutting unit can also trigger the overheating protection. In this case, please clean and oil the cutting unit of the document shredder as described in the "Care and maintenance" section of the operating manual. Please only use the special oil we have approved for document shredders to do this (order number 9000611). Other oils can damage the document shredder. Regular oiling of the cutting unit is important in securing consistent performance, in particular for our cross-cutting shredders. Should these measures fail to remedy the issue, please get in touch with your local dealer.

The document shredder is flashing green and red in alternation

When using the document shredder intensively, the safety-based overheating protection of the motor may be triggered. In this case, simply allow the device to cool down for a period. It should then work perfectly again once it has cooled down.

Which oil can I use for my document shredder?

Only ever use our special oil for document shredders (article number 9000611 for the 0.2-litre bottle or 9000621 for the 1-litre bottle). Oiled paper (article number 9000631) is also suitable for use as an alternative for cross-cutting shredders. Other oils can damage the document shredder. Regular oiling will prolong the service life of your document shredder. Our special oil not only binds dust, but also cleans and maintains the blade shafts. It is biodegradable, so it does not harm the environment. For safety reasons, never use oil from spray cans to oil your document shredder (risk of deflagration!).

1
How can I correctly oil my document shredder?

Only ever use the special oil approved for document shredders (please refer to the point "Which oil can I use for my document shredder?"), which should be applied directly to the cutter shafts of your document shredder or pour a few lines of oil onto a sheet of paper at right angles to the draw-in direction and then allow this sheet to pass through the document shredder. As an alternative for cross-cutting shredders, you can also use our oiled paper (article number 9000631). If necessary, allow multiple sheets of oiled paper to pass through the document shredder to ensure that the cutter shafts are oiled properly across their entire width. For safety reasons, never use oil from spray cans to oil your document shredder (risk of deflagration!).

The autofeed function is no longer working

In this case, please clean the rubber feed belts in the sheet loading area thoroughly using roller cleaner. When doing so, please only use the universal roller cleaner approved by us (order number 9000632) or the roller cleaning cloth (order number 9000633). Other cleaners can damage the document shredder. Regular cleaning of the feed belts helps secure consistent sheet feeding.

The "Overheat" LED lights up on my document shredder

The "Overload" LED lights up on my document shredder

In this case, too much paper is in the cutting unit, blocking the shredder. Switch the shredder to reverse operation and remove the paper. Please do not use power strips or extension cables
