Regular oiling

Regular oiling will prolong the service life of your document shredder. The document shredder cutting unit should be oiled whenever the cutting performance begins to deteriorate and each time the collection bin has been filled. Only ever use our special oil for document shredders (article number 9000611 for the 0.2-litre bottle or 9000621  for the 1-litre bottle for document shredders with automatic oiler). Apply the approved special oil for document shredders either directly onto the blade shafts of your document shredder or pour a few lines of oil onto a sheet of paper at right angles to the draw-in direction and then allow this sheet to pass through the document shredder. Our special oil not only binds dust, but also cleans, lubricates and maintains the blade shafts. As an alternative for cross-cutting shredders, you can also use our oiled paper (article number 9000631). If necessary, allow multiple sheets of oiled paper to pass through the document shredder to ensure that the cutter shafts are oiled properly across their entire width. For safety reasons, never use oil from spray cans to oil your document shredder (risk of deflagration!). Other oils than the ones approved by us can damage the document shredder.

1
Regular maintenance

Maintenance work may only be performed by suitable and correspondingly trained employees. Always disconnect the machine from the mains network prior to performing any maintenance work. Regularly remove scraps of paper from the machine and regularly lubricate the moving guides on the machine, as described in the "Care and maintenance" section of the operating manual. To secure operational reliability and prevent premature wear, we recommend that you have your machine checked and maintained regularly by a qualified service technician. Simply get in touch with your local dealer, who will be happy to help you in this regard.

Cleaning the cutting unit

The outfeed area of the cutting unit should be cleaned from time to time. To do so, first unplug the device from the mains network.  Then use a paint brush to remove the scraps of paper from the outfeed area of the document shredder. Caution: Risk of injury!

Cleaning the rubber feed belts on Autofeed document shredders

Clean the rubber belts every time the collection bin is emptied. To do this, first disconnect the device from the mains network. Remove any scraps of paper and paper dust from the rubber belts using a standard commercial vacuum cleaner. Then thoroughly rub down and clean the rubber feed belts using our roller cleaner. Plug the device back in and shred a sheet of paper using the auto feed mechanism. Unplug the device from the mains again and clean the rubber feed belts once more. Repeat this cleaning cycle until the entire surface of the belt has been cleaned to your satisfaction. When doing so, please only use the universal roller cleaner approved by us (order number 9000632). Other cleaners can damage the document shredder. Regular cleaning of the feed belts helps secure consistent sheet feeding.

Regular safety inspections

A safety inspection as per Article 3.5, Section 2.2 of BGR Regulation 500 must be performed by a customer service provider authorised by us in accordance with the applicable test instructions every five years. The inspection itself and the results must be documented in an inspection report. Once the inspection has been successfully passed, an inspection plate is affixed to the machine in a visible location. This safety inspection is mandatory in Germany; in other countries it is something we strongly recommend. Simply get in touch with your local dealer, who will be happy to help you in this regard.

Paper punch - Change your punching pads regularly

Make sure that the punching pads always wear evenly. The punching insert should always hit an area of the punching pad that has not yet been damaged. You can achieve this by turning the punching pad further if necessary. Always punch with both punching inserts at the same time. Always remove staples and avoid punching holes which already exist. This allows transverse forces to act on the punching insert, which then leads to breaking.

1
Emptying the collection bin on time

To ensure malfunction-free operation of the document shredder cutting unit, it is vital to empty the collection bin on time, i.e. do not allow the collection bin to get so full that shredded material starts "pressing back". Overfilled collection bins not only reduce performance, but can also lead to a paper jam.

1
Cleaning the rubber infeed rollers

The rubber roller and the wiper need to be cleaned at regular intervals. When doing so, please only use the universal roller cleaner approved by us (order number 9000632) or the roller cleaning cloth (order number 9000633). Other cleaners can damage the device. Regular cleaning of the rubber infeed rollers helps secure consistent sheet feeding. Worn rubber rollers and the wiper should be replaced, as describing the operating manual.
